video streaming apps for the iPhone
by admin on Apr.26, 2010, under Battery news, battery tips, laptop battery, notebook, Uncategorized
iPhone apps that stream video began showing up in the App Store more than a year ago, but aside from a few live sports apps (like the awesome MLB.com), the quality of general-interest video streaming apps for the iPhone hasn’t been great.
More people own smartphones and other advanced mobile devices (such as e-book readers and tablet PCs), and they want to watch video on those devices. Wireless networks are getting faster and more reliable, and the launch of Apple’s iPad certainly added to the excitement around watching videos in the kitchen or on the bus or wherever.
Announced at CTIA in March, the service will run as a $10-a-month app on iPhone, Android, and BlackBerry phones, and will be available from all major U.S. wireless networks.FLO TV uses its own wireless network (not a 3G network) with its own wireless spectrum to distribute video.
There’s no FLO TV chip in the iPhone, but FLO TV is working with an accessories company called Mophie to put the chip in a sleeve (called the Juice Pack TV) for the iPhone and the iPod Touch that will catch the signal for the device.
But to get a decent selection of video, you’ll have to buy one of MobiTV’s one-, three-, or six-month packages (priced at $10, $25, and $45, respectively), which feature 8 channels of live TV and more than 30 channels of on-demand content. As Android continues to gain steam, you can expect to see a similar MobiTV app in the Android Market.
You can find MobiTV on phones from AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile, and several smaller, regional networks such as Alltel. In some cases, MobiTV is branded something else, like “Sprint TV”; in others, the service shows up on the phone under the MobiTV brand. streaming video app for the iPad, and the app has been very popular; but the company is reticent about releasing an app that puts its Watch Instantly service on the iPhone–or on any other phone.

Also used in WALKMAN digital media players and VAIO computers, Sony’s proprietary 12 tone analysis technology automatically sorts music into different types of moods allowing a choice of ‘mood channels’ from a music library.reating music selections has never been easier than with the ZAPPIN? and SensMe? features, exclusive from Sony.

flash won’t come to apple’s mobiles
by admin on Apr.12, 2010, under Battery news, battery tips, laptop battery, notebook
Based on Steve Jobs’ ultra-brief comment about Flash after Thursday’s presentation and some newly discovered fine print in the iPhone SDK, however, it’s safe to say that Flash won’t be coming to Apple’s mobile products anytime soon.
During the brief Q&A, Sir Steve was only too happy to chat about Apple’s new iAd advertising campaign and the “butterflies” in his stomach right before the iPad launch, and he even humored a reporter who asked about Apple’s stance on distracted driving on Dell inspiron 1521 battery . But when it came to whether Apple had plans to add Flash support to the iPhone, he supplied a one-word answer: a “flat” no, according to Engadget.
Not long afterward, blogger John Gruber of Daring Fireball discovered another little stink bomb for Adobe: a new restriction in the license for the iPhone software developers kit that bans developers from using cross-platform development tools for building iPhone and iPod Touch apps — a restriction that appears to apply to an Adobe tool used by Flash developers.
The new restriction is being widely interpreted as a yet another slap in the face to Adobe, which just issued a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission stating that “our Dell C1295 battery business could be harmed” as “new releases of operating systems or other third-party products, platforms or devices, such as the Apple iPhone or iPad, make it more difficult for our products to perform, and our customers are persuaded to use alternative technologies,” according to Bloomberg.
This isn’t just a matter of working out a few technical details or a contractual snag or two. From my chair, it’s looking more like a schoolyard shoving match, and as an avid iPhone user who’d like to Dell latitude e6400 battery — call me crazy — be able to view the occasional embedded Flash video on my browser, I’m annoyed to be stuck in the middle.
Let’s just go with the assumption (not held by everyone, by the way) that Flash is buggy and a CPU hog. Fine — but why not give us the option of choosing for ourselves whether to enable Flash on our iPhones Dell inspiron 1545 battery (say, in the Settings menu)? Sounds reasonable, but it’ll never happen. Because (and again, I say this as the proud owner of two MacBooks, an iPhone, and an iPad), as usual, Steve Knows Best.

Enjoy Mobile DTV while walking or riding (2)
by admin on Apr.06, 2010, under Battery news, battery tips, laptop battery, notebook
Furthermore, the picture attainable on mobile satellite systems tends to break up in urban environments.Like broadcasts from regular television stations, Mobile DTV channel broadcasts have a limited range of Dell inspiron 1721 battery . In the case of the New York test station (WPXN), I could receive a signal only within a radius of about 10 miles from the broadcast tower.
When Mobile DTV stations go live, however, reception supposedly will be possible even at distances of 20 to 40 miles. This is welcome news for travelers who find themselves delayed in airport lounges to Dell inspiron 1525 battery , though passengers whiling away time on long car trips will still have to change channels repeatedly.
Mobile DTV’s main rival is the Qualcomm-backed Flo TV service. Flo TV is available on several smartphones (the $200 LG Arena, for example) and on the $250 Flo TV Personal Tele-vision. But the service costs $10 to $14 per month (de–pending on the device and the carrier), it delivers fewer than 20 nationwide channels, and the channels are available only in metropolitan areas.
That’s because Flo TV relies on its own network of transmission towers to broadcast programming in some of the space that was left vacant when television stations switched from analog to digital Dell FK890 . Consequently, even though Flo TV programming is nationwide, the network itself is not. In the hinterland, you’ll lose the signal.
Eventually, we may see devices that support both Mobile DTV and Flo TV. Both LG and Samsung have demonstrated cell phones with Mobile DTV, and both offer handsets than can re–ceive Flo TV. Much depends on what cell phone carriers like AT&T and Verizon de–cide to do Dell RN873 battery , since they control which handsets work on their networks.
Currently, both companies charge a substantial fee for cellular-network-based video, and free Mobile DTV could cut into their revenue from that source of Dell inspiron 1720 battery . Meanwhile, some Mobile DTV broadcasters are looking at the possibility of offering additional for-pay channels that could induce wireless carriers to add Mo–bile DTV to their handsets.

Lenovo , the world’s fourth-largest personal computer maker , jumped into the mobile Internet market in January with the unveiling of a smart phone and two Web-linked portable computers of Apple A1012.
“Mobile Internet is very important,” Yang said in an interview. “Even today, notebook sales already are higher than desktops. Mobile Internet products are going to be 70 to 80 percent of our sales … within three to five years.”
Yang said Lenovo plans this year to focus on promoting mobile Internet and sales of Sony VGP-BPS2 battery in emerging economies in Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe.
Lenovo, based in Beijing and Morrisville, North Carolina , was hit hard by the global crisis , which prompted its core corporate customers to slash spending. It suffered three losing quarters before rebounding to a profit in the second half of last year.
In the latest quarter, Lenovo said sales in India and other emerging markets rose 52 percent over a year earlier, far ahead of the 13 percent sales growth reported for the United States and Western Europe .
Lenovo, which acquired IBM Corp.’s PC unit in 2005, says its global market share last year rose to 9 percent, its highest level to date.Corporate spending on Sony VGP-BPS2C computers has yet to rebound but companies are expected to step up purchasing in the second half of this year, Yang said. He said he could not foresee when global PC sales might recover to pre-crisis levels.
