Adrenaline is a Crucial SSD cache to act as your hard drive

by admin on Jan.12, 2012, under electronics, hardware

Crucial has been to work and has presented a product that many expected to see in the market for a while. From the hardware point of view of its new Crucial Adrenaline is only an SSD of the same make, model m4, but with a different sticker. The vital difference is special software included and whose installation is necessary for the proper functioning of the device.

This software allows the Adrenaline acts as a cache of other hard drives, keeping in memory the most frequently used files at certain times. According to Crucial, this program is completely transparent and automatic and requires the user’s attention at any time. Adrenaline Connect, install the program and go.

The first model of adrenaline Crucial will sell will with a capacity of 50 GB, tiny to serve as a single storage device but enough to be the cache of a traditional hard disk will be contained in the operating system and all the applications. It will be sold along with support for 3.5-inch bays (it is designed for desktop computers, of course) for a price still unknown. The manufacturer confirmed that it has to start shipping during the first quarter of 2012.

A good idea that it was clear that ending coming. I doubt the final solution, since it uses an SSD as a cache, such as buffer system, it aims for future medium to long term when the flash memory has reduced its selling prices. However it is clear that as far as SSDs become cheaper seems a good option, midway between the fastest and the slowest. Do you think it will work?

So Android 4.0 will run on the Archos G9 ICS in early 2012

by admin on Dec.31, 2011, under electronics, hardware

Now we know why there was a delay of Archos tablets until early 2012, they were saving the best for last and so surprised how well it works with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in a generation Tablets Archos G9.

In a video posted a few hours ago you can see that Archos tablets G9 along very well with the latest version of Android, but the truth Archos did not expect so soon. As discussed from the company, the tablets come in early 2012 with Android 4.0 pre-installed and function as well as we can see in the video, the more we will be considering one.

Despite being a preliminary sample, the performance of the system is incredibly fast, smooth response and interface responds perfectly compared to previous versions of what we can easily deduce that the software upgrade hardware in combination with a can offer decent results rather than interesting. With this announcement Archos brand guideline, only expected to remain well and are of the first manufacturers to make available to purchase products with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Archos models offer screens are represented by 8 and 10 “, both powered by an OMAP 4 processor 1.5GHz dual core and both SSD storage on hard disk. The version that already has its Archos Android tablet is 4.0.1, OTA update Google released some after the official presentation of the operating system, which tells me that updates with the manufacturer at least, are a day.

I must say that Archos products have greatly improved in its early versions, the software did not even include the Android Market, formed a screen resolution that left much to be desired and poor hardware, but these new versions (despite not having the best design the world) did show that the company wants and gets better with new releases. Now the price is still low compared to tablets with similar specifications. The Archos G9 range from $ 329 to $ 469, all depend on the size, type and storage capacity.

Logitech Revue Google TV 2.0 gets official

by admin on Dec.16, 2011, under electronics, electronics news

From Logitech’s blog comes the official confirmation that all devices and Logitech Revue should begin to receive the new update to Android 3.1, Google TV. The new update notice will appear automatically if the Revue is connected to the Internet, and will only accept it to begin downloading and updating. Buyers of new Revue will also receive the update automatically once they have activated your unit.
Google TV version 2.0 that Logitech has included in its basic streamer is not that Google has already released a couple of weeks, but includes customizations and unique applications, such as Logitech Media Player, which has been updated with some improvements. One of the most important TV included with Google Android 3.1 is the new Android Market where users have access to a growing catalog where we can find for example Google Music, and up to 50 different utilities and other applications specifically created for devices multimedia. We also find improvements in speed and capacity of the system’s search engine, allowing us to quickly locate the content you’re looking for, either in local mode via an external storage device, or from internet.
Which in turn was rated by many as a major fiasco Logitech again with renewed strength with this new system, including Google Chrome browser with Flash support 10.2 for surfing the internet as if we were using our desktop computer. With the Logitech TV Cam – which can be purchased separately – and the service Vid HD, Logitech Revue also allow us to make video calls over the Internet from our HDTV, to stay connected with friends and family more comfortable, from our own lounge. This camera also allow us to leverage other future communication applications that may appear in the Android Market.
What will be the most controversial of Logitech device? The firm has already announced its intention not to produce a second generation of these Google TV, which Revue is the only of its kind in its catalog. What is still unclear after the losses it has caused, is if Logitech will continue to manufacture and supporting its only Google TV for much longer, which may depend on the success of the platform after the upgrade, and could determine sales volume, if it is profitable enough to continue to support and extend their production and sales to other regions not yet have official distribution, including Spain.

Apple defends Windows Kinect for patenting a motion capture system

by admin on Dec.09, 2011, under electronics, hardware

No one could predict that the success of Kinect would lead to Microsoft itself as a patron of the scene formalizing the development of applications with an SDK, let alone end up with a unique version of the computer hardware, with the intention of signing Redmond to create a motion capture system as a method of interacting with your computer. It seems curious that this technology has been with Apple, which is working on its own system of interaction through movements, or so suggests the latest patent application that the company has recently made official. The “Capture and display three-dimensional” (Three-dimensional imaging and display system) describes a method of introducing new orders or commands where the user “is optically detected in an image volume.”

The system would monitor and detect the user’s hands in three dimensional space in front of an Apple computer, and this could manipulate a series of virtual on-screen controls – or “virtual projects” – such as buttons, icons or boxes, which would supplement or completely replace to the traditional keyboard and mouse. The patent application, which is quite specific as to the operation of the interface and detailed with highly technical language, explain how the device calculate the coordinates of hand position with a single measurement system, although similar to that used Kinect with points of light and infrared camera. Apple’s vision of the virtual user interface is extremely complex and radically different from what until now has in its products, which denotes a certain concern for the success of the system from Microsoft, and also a change in the philosophy of the company, until now fairly orthodox in research of new technologies.

As observed in this large and cumbersome patent, Apple could change not only the method of introduction, if the user interface to fit the motion capture, saying goodbye to the traditional Finder. But not only be a visual change to use, the patent also details the use of other types of response, and auditory, to complement the motion capture, such as the use of a sound when turning a dial to control, or even a 3D virtual projection using a complex system of mirrors, which most likely will never become real.

What is Apple’s real intention? Personally I hope not, now or in the near future, a system so pompous and showy as comes out of Apple’s engineering labs, or anything, but I do see as might be the beginning of a transition leading to the company to devise new methods of interaction to fend off competition featuring Kinect in this case, and possibly in a relatively short period of time other similar devices that change the way they control our personal computers. Tactile interfaces such as tablets or advanced trackpads – Apple Magic Trackpad, Touchpad Logitech Wireless – have taken center stage in recent years and may now be time to more advanced technology like Kinect, coming to compatible market early next year with the intention of revolutionizing the relationship of users with their home computers.

Boxes that give you network in the grid

by admin on Dec.02, 2011, under electronics, electronics news

How about getting faster network at home with a simple box? HomePlug (or powerline) is a technology that fixes it. It’s about adapters that you plug into a standard outlet and gives you a fixed network via your standard electrical wiring. Simply pull a network cable between the adapter and your router or computer. Or your printer, hard disk, video, or storage server.

Why not WiFi?

What is the point of this? Many online stuff is just as well to connect to a wireless access point? Yes, WiFi will do just fine for most things you do on a regular PC or a surf board. And of course it is nice not having to hunt around for a network socket and get tangled in wires.

While WiFi is a limited technology with a lot of disadvantages. First of all, you clearly inferior bandwidth when you go wireless. Are many of the family access the network simultaneously and make bandwidth-intensive tasks like downloading large files or stream video, it soon becomes tough.

Another important difference between wifi and a fixed connection is that the wireless is uneven. How fast you can transfer from one computer to the router varies greatly, and often the small breaks in the transmission when the connection is broken and must be resumed again, or radio signal interference.

Good for high-definition

If you only send smaller files internally on the network or surf the web so you will not know of this. The technology for file transfer, and Web protocol HTTP are both built to handle it a little choppy in the transfer. Does it take a second or two extra to download a web page and then world has not come.

The same happens when you stream movies from the web, for example from Youtube or a Play-station. With this technique, charge home much of the film in advance, so you can continue to play even if there is a break in transmission.

But, do you want to stream movies in high quality of the home server, your DLNA-connected televisions, and a bunch of computers expect the systems that communication is much more steady and does not forgive all the bumps as a wireless network with each other. So if there are too cumbersome to draw the appropriate network cables, yes that’s right then Homeplug is a really good option.

New, faster generation

During the year there has appeared a handful of HomePlug devices that will increase capacity which can be sent over the network effect. Previously, we have seen 100-200 megabits per second, but now the theoretical maximum speed to be up to 500 megabits or even for some plugs 1000 megabits.

This varies a lot depending on the quality of power lines, how much else that is plugged into nearby outlets and different things that may disturb the signal, ranging from building materials to the electromagnetic field around such things as electric radiators. But the new faster plugs are also better able to get a good enough speed in worse conditions. And they are usually much faster and more stable than WiFi.

We tested five starter for either 500 or 1000 megabits Homeplug. In them, you get two units. A to the router and one to put where you want the signal to go. Then you can easily buy more and connect. It is surprisingly big difference in the plugs, and it applies to everything from performance to the features and user interface.

Toshiba Satellite U505 Full Review

Toshiba Satellite U505 Full Review

Toshiba Satellite U505 Full Review

Construction and Design

The new Toshiba Satellite notebook series offers an ideal U500/U505 compact footprint similar to most laptops with 13.3 “, but can not really call a laptop a” netbook “. With a thickness of 1, 5 cm (2.25-inch to 12-cell battery), the U505 is probably one of the largest 13-inch notebooks on the market. Not only is the U505 is thicker than the Lenovo ThinkPad X301 Apple’sMacBook or air, but the U505 is thicker and heavier than the Dell XPS Studio 13 and 13-inch MacBook Pro

The exterior of the dell inspiron 1545 battery is constructed of plastic with some flexibility in the left palm rest and the LCD screen lid when pressure is applied. The same structure does not suffer from the “chirp” that are common in plastic laptops at low cost. Toshiba has wisely decided to abandon the glossy “Fusion” is used in portable satellite last year for a textured matte finish. Our review unit has improved the texture “Brown Premium de Luxe”, which includes chrome accents on the edges of the laptop.

Build quality is good compared to low-cost netbook, but at the same price Apple MacBook Pro and Dell Studio XPS 13. While most notebook manufacturers have begun the transition of its laptops with screens with an aspect ratio of 16:9 (liquid crystal, as manufacturers look to PM 4:09) was able to maintain the relationship between tradition Toshiba 16 : 10 U500/U505 widescreen series. This provides more square than the competition U505 rectangular.

Screen and speakers

While we’re on the subject of the screen, the 13.3 “screen offers a bright WXGA resolution (1280 x 800) there was absolutely no problem with the screen on our review unit:. CCFL backlight was nice and smooth and stuck pixels. How is common with glossy screens, colors and contrast are very good and the pictures and video “pop” on screen. Like last year, acer aspire one battery, seems to have found the perfect balance between gloss and matt. The screen is quite light to produce wealth, added the contrast of glossy screens and inherent, but the surface is not so bright that the reflections become a problem unless if you work in direct sunlight, with a view rejected light.

The screen is just beautiful seen from the front. Horizontal viewing angles are good, but you begin to notice color changes in a wide-angle position. There is some color inversion when you view the screen from sharp vertical angles (bright colors when viewed from the top of the laptop or dark colors are reversed when viewing the screen from the ground) but most people rarely Once a framework of extreme vertical angles.

The performance of the speakers is good despite the size of stereo speakers located on the keyboard quarts. Of course, a subwoofer to provide a better response than the “metal”, but that sounds high and low averages are good for a laptop of 13 inches. The high volume levels were strong enough to fill a room with a heavy sound before distortion becomes evident. However, like any laptop, the headphones are probably a good addition to this handset.

Keyboard and touchpad

Once again, Toshiba has decided to stop using the term “Fusion” on your keyboard and use a less bright color that gives each the key to a lasting and good consistency. Unlike most used keys on conventional keyboards road last year, the U505 uses flat keys that are a little ‘smaller than usual because Toshiba has decided to make the shape of an inverted “T” for some reason. This does not create a problem for typing, but it may take some time to get used to the size and feel of the keys. The keystrokes are smooth, perfectly deep padded nice and quiet. The entire keyboard has some flexibility in heavy writing pressure, but almost no flex when normal pressure is applied. The backlit keyboard is nice and balanced, and helps you see what you write in a dark room.

I was a big fan of the dell latitude d830 battery last year, was just one of the best I’ve used a laptop of 13 inches last year. The surface is flush with the palmrests but there was a slight application of what was almost like sandpaper on the smooth surface. Toshiba has opted for a more traditional ALPS touchpad on this occasion and I was not impressed. The recessed area is small compared to the touchpad on most modern laptops 13 inches and the sensitivity was just average. Toshiba was sufficient to include a white LED backlight on the touch screen that not only looks good, but it helps you quickly find the touch screen in a darkened room lit.

The touchpad buttons in our unit of Appeal has a chrome look with superficial comments and click when pressed. The buttons are nice and big, with a clear separation that makes them very easy to use … but I wish the answer was a little ‘more than press the touchpad buttons.

Battery

The 12-cell 8500mAh Li-ion battery provides excellent battery life for the dell vostro 1520 battery. The extended battery gives 5 hours and 18 minutes of life while surfing the web with Wi-Fi phone in a “balanced” and screen brightness turned to 70 percent.

Although battery life is average considering the massive 8500mAh battery, extended battery with the U505 should provide enough energy for a student or the road warrior that has no access to a power outlet. Since approximately 13-inch thin and light laptop such as the MSI X340 has reached less than four hours, the work is a pretty decent U500/U505.

Conclusion

The Toshiba Satellite laptop U500/U505 is a good for general use, but has a strong competition from other 13-inch notebooks on the market. Toshiba clearly listened to some of the criticisms of last year, dell latitude d630 battery, and made some improvements in the model year.

Unfortunately, Toshiba may have been shot in the foot when it comes to the price of its higher-end configurations. I find it hard to believe that the majority of students could be interesting for purchasing this Toshiba on the total sale price of over $ 1,000, when the same student could buy a brand new Apple 13-inch MacBook Pro around the same price. The entry-level U500/U505 configurations start at less than $ 700, so that might actually be a convenient choice for back to school this year

Samsung S8500 Wave vs. Motorola Milestone: games and graphics comparison

Samsung is working very well with the new arrangements and with the new platform Bada. An interesting comparison is certainly relative to playing games for the new system. Samsung Watch out, here are some examples of 3D games on the new S8500

by Meggie on Sep.05, 2011, under electronics

Samsung Watch out, here are some examples of 3D games on the new S8500

One of the features of new handsets is the Samsung Super AMOLED display introduced by Korean and ready to do commercial debut with Samsung S8500 Wave. This screen was placed inside a very powerful hardware that has a Cortex A8 processor 1GHz with a high-performance graphics processor. Bay also offers excellent opportunities for planning and creating 3D games advanced graphics. Here are some examples below:

The videos are not brand new, but have not been publicized much, and then offer them to you as unusual for us.

We want to remember that these videos were shot with a very old software version than the one presented in this video review.

Downgrade from 4.0 to 3.1.3 to use Spirit and do the jailbreak

The guide is very simple and is valid only for Mac users. Simply follow the steps carefully, to go back to firmware 3.1.3 if you had installed the beta of OS 4.0. This guide also applies to those who have not saved on the server Saurik ECID.

First you will need two programs. The first is called iRecovery, and is a zip file, which we will unpack and place the program on your desktop right out of our Macs for free download HERE.

The second program, however, is called LibUSB, and will simply install the package you will find in the just unpacked. To download click HERE.

Finally let us remember, have a copy of the 3.1.3 firmware on your computer, otherwise you can download it.

* For the 3.1.3 firmware for iPhone 3G HERE.

Put your iPhone in DFU mode (Colegio iPhone to Mac, hold down both the Home button and power button until the iPhone restarts and never release the Home button and Power. As soon as you turn, release the Power button and keep pressing until the Home screen will not display the image that requires the device to connect to iTunes).

Now start iTunes on your keyboard and press the alt key and hold down the alt key, click on the button restore in iTunes. Now select the location where you saved the 3.1.3 firmware and restore your iPhone.

After the restore, iTunes will report the error 1015. Ignore this error by clicking on OK and then quit iTunes.

Do not disconnect your iPhone from your Mac completely and continue driving.

Once you’ve followed the simple steps above, open your Mac Terminal and type the following command strings.

You got to downgrade the firmware of your iPhone. Once downgraded to firmware 3.1.3, you can repeat the same procedure, to have on your iPhone firmware 3.1.2.

If you now want to jailbreak your iPhone with 3.1.3 firmware, follow our guide to jailbreak.

Here’s a video that shows you clearly how to downgrade.
