microsoft will invest in MySQL database
by admin on Apr.14, 2010, under Battery news, battery tips, laptop battery, notebook
In a bid to woo customers from rival Microsoft Corp, Oracle Corp will boost investment in the widely used MySQL open-source database that it acquired with its January purchase of Sun Microsystems.
Already the world’s biggest player in the $19-billion-a-year Dell inspiron 1545 battery database market, Oracle believes that it can boost overall database sales by making MySQL more competitive with Microsoft’s SQL Server.
Edward Screven, Oracle’s chief corporate architect, said in an interview that the company will add new functions to the software and improve its performance.”We are increasing our investment in MySQL… on every front,” he said prior to unveiling Oracle’s strategy Dell latitude d610 battery for MySQL at a software conference in California on Tuesday.
The acquisition of MySQL gave Oracle an entry into other parts of the market, such as selling to small to mid-sized businesses and companies running websites.ITIC analyst Laura DiDio said that MySQL and SQL Server are fundamentally similar to Dell latitude d430 battery , but that the Oracle product is not as robust as the one from Microsoft.
The European Union delayed Oracle’s $7.5 billion purchase of Sun for months over concern that Oracle would slow development of MySQL in a bid to pressure its users to buy Oracle’s high-end inspiron b120 battery product.MySQL is an open-source program that is available at no cost. It generates revenue from subscriptions for upgrades, bug fixes and call center support as well as tools that companies use to manage the software.

Barnes sell Nook at Best Buy

Barnes sell Nook at Best Buy
Barnes & Noble Inc will sell its Nook electronic-book reader at Best Buy Co Inc, expanding distribution as it faces growing competition with the entry of Apple Inc’s iPad.The exclusive deal calls for Best Buy to also include Barnes & Noble’s BN eReader software Lenovo thinkpad r61 battery on some of the personal computers and smartphones it sells. Currently, the Nook is available at Barnes & Noble’s website and 723 bookstores.
Souers, who maintained his sell recommendation on the stock but raised his price target to $19, said that the sale of the eReader software was the more important part of the deal because it would spur sales of Lenovo v200 battery by increasing the number of devices on which Barnes & Noble’s e-bookstore is available.
Best Buy is working to differentiate itself from the likes of Amazon and Wal-Mart Stores Inc, and the Nook deal helps set it apart in a fast-growing electronics segment.Barnes & Noble and Amazon don’t provide sales figures for their e-readers, but each claims its device is enjoying robust sales.”It’s an important category for Best Buy,” said Ross Rubin, an executive director of industry analysis at research firm NPD Group.
“Best Buy definitely wants to establish itself as a destination for new technologies Lenovo 3000 y410 battery .”Apple said last week that it had sold about 450,000 iPads in its first few days.In a research note on Monday, Goldman Sachs forecast that U.S. sales of e-books would rise by 47 percent per year to reach $3.2 billion by 2015, or 12.8 percent of total book sales, up from 3 percent this year. Goldman expects physical book sales to slip 1 percent per year over that period.
Goldman also forecast that Apple’s share of the e-book market would jump to 33 percent in 2015 from 10 percent this year, while Amazon’s market share would fall to 28 percent from 50 percent. Barnes & Noble is expected to snag 15 percent of e-book sales in five years, up from 5 percent in 2010. “This partnership provides them (Barnes & Noble) with an additional distribution channel on thinkpad t61 battery , which is critical to driving sales of the Nook,” said Michael Souers, an analyst with Standard & Poor’s Equity Research.

flash won’t come to apple’s mobiles
by admin on Apr.12, 2010, under Battery news, battery tips, laptop battery, notebook
Based on Steve Jobs’ ultra-brief comment about Flash after Thursday’s presentation and some newly discovered fine print in the iPhone SDK, however, it’s safe to say that Flash won’t be coming to Apple’s mobile products anytime soon.
During the brief Q&A, Sir Steve was only too happy to chat about Apple’s new iAd advertising campaign and the “butterflies” in his stomach right before the iPad launch, and he even humored a reporter who asked about Apple’s stance on distracted driving on Dell inspiron 1521 battery . But when it came to whether Apple had plans to add Flash support to the iPhone, he supplied a one-word answer: a “flat” no, according to Engadget.
Not long afterward, blogger John Gruber of Daring Fireball discovered another little stink bomb for Adobe: a new restriction in the license for the iPhone software developers kit that bans developers from using cross-platform development tools for building iPhone and iPod Touch apps — a restriction that appears to apply to an Adobe tool used by Flash developers.
The new restriction is being widely interpreted as a yet another slap in the face to Adobe, which just issued a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission stating that “our Dell C1295 battery business could be harmed” as “new releases of operating systems or other third-party products, platforms or devices, such as the Apple iPhone or iPad, make it more difficult for our products to perform, and our customers are persuaded to use alternative technologies,” according to Bloomberg.
This isn’t just a matter of working out a few technical details or a contractual snag or two. From my chair, it’s looking more like a schoolyard shoving match, and as an avid iPhone user who’d like to Dell latitude e6400 battery — call me crazy — be able to view the occasional embedded Flash video on my browser, I’m annoyed to be stuck in the middle.
Let’s just go with the assumption (not held by everyone, by the way) that Flash is buggy and a CPU hog. Fine — but why not give us the option of choosing for ourselves whether to enable Flash on our iPhones Dell inspiron 1545 battery (say, in the Settings menu)? Sounds reasonable, but it’ll never happen. Because (and again, I say this as the proud owner of two MacBooks, an iPhone, and an iPad), as usual, Steve Knows Best.

iPad is the fourth step in the gaming evolution
by admin on Apr.09, 2010, under Battery news, battery tips, laptop battery, notebook
Apple’s iPad tablet computer hasn’t been out a week yet but there are already over 830 video games that have been developed to suit the large format, high definition, multi-touch screen.”The iPad is the fourth step in the gaming evolution,” said Gonzague de Vallois, senior vice president of publishing at Gameloft.
“The first being the microcomputer, the second being the game console and the third being smartphones. Each of these platforms revolutionized gaming in its own way.”Apple has already sold over 500,000 iPads and Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty forecasts the tech giant will ship 8 to 10 million iPads this year worldwide.
“Can the iPad sell 5 million devices in the first year without games and apps? Probably,” said Kevin A. Wood, vice president and senior analyst of Technology Market Insights at research firm Infogroup/ORC.”When you play inspiron 2200 battery games on the large format, multi-touch fields using two hands it’s much more ‘Minority Report’ than even the iPhone is.”
With seven iPad games available at launch, ngmoco is taking advantage of the multi-touch screen by allowing players of games like “Godfinger” and “We Rule” to multitask by literally sliding small game windows Dell inspiron 1526 battery aside so they can focus on the bigger playing field and then read the story progression or check out friends’ castles in between.
Johnny Coghlan, head of publishing for Chillingo, which has 14 iPad games available, said the Wi-Fi and 3G capabilities allows for all of its games, including “Super Shock Football HD” and puzzle game “Quantz HD,” to incorporate Crystal integration. This is the company’s social gaming network that enables players to compete against one another and tout high scores.
With its large screen, game makers can offer multiplayer options on a single iPad.Firemint’s “Flight Control HD” offers split-screen competitive and cooperative gameplay for two players to successfully land a never-ending stream of inspiron b120 battery planes. There are hundreds of free iPad games, while other games range in price from $5 to $13. Games range from EA Mobile’s ubiquitous “Tetris” to SGN’s third-person shooter “EXO-Planet.”
Some publishers offer lower-priced iPod Touch/iPhone ports as well as slightly more expensive iPad versions that take advantage of the new functionality. “By taking an existing iPhone game and modifying it for iPad we believe that it will not only bring a new experience to an existing title inspiron 1720 battery , but basically create a new game,” said de Vallois.
For example, Gameloft’s iPad shooter “N.O.V.A Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance” allows players to use two fingers to curve a grenade toss and offers multi-targeting capabilities with a hand-drawn grid that Dell inspiron 5100 battery eliminates all enemies on the screen with a rocket. The game originated on iPhone and iPod Touch.

iPad to be possibly the single most polarizing gadget(1)
by admin on Apr.08, 2010, under Battery news, battery tips, laptop battery, notebook
Plenty of people already have their minds made up. They’ll tell you the iPad is a) the greatest thing that’s happened to personal computing since the mouse, or b) the latest extravagance from a megalomaniac who’s tricked countless suckers into drinking his Kool-Aid. Indeed, in more than a dozen years of writing about Lenovo 3000 v100 battery technology, I’ve found the iPad to be possibly the single most polarizing gadget I’ve ever covered.
There might be more consensus about health care than there is over the iPad. We could debate the significance of the iPad all day, but in the end, it’s just a gadget. If it adds something to your life thinkpad t60 battery — if you find it useful or it makes you happy — go right ahead and plunk down that $499 (for the 16GB model) to $829 (for the 64GB, 3G-enabled version). If it doesn’t, don’t. I’m not here to convince you otherwise.
Is the iPad really useful? Do you — does anyone — need one? Frankly, that depends on what you plan to use it for. Consider this: Even if you deem the iPad little more than a $500 extravagance, is it any more of an extravagance than a $400 game console Lenovo 3000 c200 battery , or a $1,500 46-inch HDTV? I don’t need a 46-inch TV, but I’m certainly happy I have one.
Let’s not forget that the success or failure of the iPad as a productivity tool lies in its apps. Although more than 2,000 are already in the app store, the iPad app market is still in its infancy. Most iPad apps I’ve seen so far are little more than super-size versions Dell C1295 battery of iPhone apps, and some are painfully clunky and crashy. (The first third-party iPhone apps were pretty unstable too.)
I’m confident that the market will flourish, especially in terms of productivity tools — but for now, we’ll just have to wait.As an e-reader, I consider the iPad a mixed bag. Its display is no doubt prettier than that of the Kindle or the Nook Dell CF623 battery — the iPad’s large color screen is easy on the eyes when reading at home on the sofa — but the 1.5-pound iPad is significantly bigger and heavier.

make the consumers agree with the business
by admin on Apr.07, 2010, under Battery news, battery tips, laptop battery, notebook
Give people a forum to complain and they’ll happily take it. The problem is that the people or businesses they’re complaining about usually won’t find it so agreeable. Now make an offer to those targets that allows them to manage the complaints Lenovo thinkpad t61 battery — for a price — and watch the sparks fly.
Yelp has fiercely denied the allegations, saying that a small number of businesses have simply failed to understand its advertising program, that it never removes reviews just because a customer advertises, and that the only way reviews get removed from the site are in cases of spamming or of malicious or libelous content.
On Tuesday Yelp announced changes to its ad offerings and business model to address some of the criticism.First, the company is dropping the “Favorite Review” altogether. The old ad plan let businesses select a favorite review of Dell latitude d830 battery from those submitted by users and promote it to the top of the listing page, with a special box placed around it.
But users felt this was perhaps too easy to manipulate as advertorial, so it’s being canned. The second change lets users see reviews that have been filtered out by the Yelp spam system Sony VGP-BPS8 battery . All the questionable and possibly malicious reviews that Yelp removes from the site can now be restored if you’d like.
Just scroll to the bottom of any business’s listing page and you’ll see, next to the total number of reviews on the page, a notice along the lines of “(24 Filtered).” Click this link and you can read them and judge for yourself whether they’re spam of Dell xps m1530 battery . In my limited poking around into a few filtered reviews, I can see why businesses were complaining: Many of these reviews seem totally acceptable to me, and the vast majority of them are positive. (Yelp probably suspects that they’re shills or employees of the business trying to inflate the business’s rating.)

Enjoy Mobile DTV while walking or riding (2)
by admin on Apr.06, 2010, under Battery news, battery tips, laptop battery, notebook
Furthermore, the picture attainable on mobile satellite systems tends to break up in urban environments.Like broadcasts from regular television stations, Mobile DTV channel broadcasts have a limited range of Dell inspiron 1721 battery . In the case of the New York test station (WPXN), I could receive a signal only within a radius of about 10 miles from the broadcast tower.
When Mobile DTV stations go live, however, reception supposedly will be possible even at distances of 20 to 40 miles. This is welcome news for travelers who find themselves delayed in airport lounges to Dell inspiron 1525 battery , though passengers whiling away time on long car trips will still have to change channels repeatedly.
Mobile DTV’s main rival is the Qualcomm-backed Flo TV service. Flo TV is available on several smartphones (the $200 LG Arena, for example) and on the $250 Flo TV Personal Tele-vision. But the service costs $10 to $14 per month (de–pending on the device and the carrier), it delivers fewer than 20 nationwide channels, and the channels are available only in metropolitan areas.
That’s because Flo TV relies on its own network of transmission towers to broadcast programming in some of the space that was left vacant when television stations switched from analog to digital Dell FK890 . Consequently, even though Flo TV programming is nationwide, the network itself is not. In the hinterland, you’ll lose the signal.
Eventually, we may see devices that support both Mobile DTV and Flo TV. Both LG and Samsung have demonstrated cell phones with Mobile DTV, and both offer handsets than can re–ceive Flo TV. Much depends on what cell phone carriers like AT&T and Verizon de–cide to do Dell RN873 battery , since they control which handsets work on their networks.
Currently, both companies charge a substantial fee for cellular-network-based video, and free Mobile DTV could cut into their revenue from that source of Dell inspiron 1720 battery . Meanwhile, some Mobile DTV broadcasters are looking at the possibility of offering additional for-pay channels that could induce wireless carriers to add Mo–bile DTV to their handsets.

What makes the sites so special , iPad concerned
by admin on Apr.02, 2010, under Battery news, battery tips, laptop battery, notebook
Macworld gets the credit for spotting the list on Apple’s site; a dozen sites are listed, ranging from CNN and Reuters to the New York Times and Sports Illustrated. What makes the sites so special, at least as far as the iPad is concerned? They’ve all been retooled with “the latest Web standards of Lenovo 3000 n100 battery ,” including CSS3, JavaScript, and — most importantly — HTML5.
Can’t stomach the thought of running into one of those annoying blue “Flash-should-be-here” icons while surfing on your new iPad? Stick to these HTML5-compliant websites of Sony VGP-BPS8 battery , says Apple, and you’ll see nothing but streaming video goodness.
That last Web standard, of course, lies at the center of the recent war of words between Apple and Adobe, the developer behind Flash. As we all know by now, neither the iPad nor the iPhone supports Flash, a Web technology that powers the vast majority of streaming video on the Web ( Lenovo thinkpad t400 battery).
Steve Jobs, however, has made it plain that he won’t have Flash on either the iPad or iPhone because it’s so “buggy” and crash prone; Adobe, for its part, has accused Apple of “continuing to impose restrictions on their devices that limit both content and users.”Anyway, Jobs has been pushing the open-HTML5 standard — which allows for video and audio streaming over the Web, no plug-in required — as an alternative to Flash, and HTML5 is on prominent display on Apple’s list of “iPad-ready” Web sites.
For example, CNN, Reuters, the New York Times, Vimeo, Sports Illustrated, Flickr, and even whitehouse.gov all won spots on the list thanks to their iPad-compatible HTML5 video players of Lenovo 3000 c200 battery . Not on the list yet: CBS, which is said to be converting its streaming TV shows to HTML5 for the iPad’s benefit. (YouTube has started dabbling in HTML5, as well.)
Of course, a dozen “iPad-ready” sites does not a revolution make. Those who do end up buying the iPad this weekend are sure to run into one little blue “can’t-do-Flash” icon after another on acer aspire one battery , including on sites that use Flash for menu navigation, games, or other types of interactivity. Like it or not, there’s a lot of Flash on the Web, and until Apple does a 180, neither the iPad nor the iPhone (or the iPod Touch, for that matter) will be able to render it.

AMD plan to ship desktop chips in Germany
by admin on Apr.01, 2010, under Battery news, battery tips, laptop battery, notebook
AMD announced plans to ship a series of six-core desktop chips during the Cebit exhibition in Germany last month, saying the chips would be available during the second quarter, but held back on details of the chips, including clock speeds and cache size of apple a1148 battery . However, copies of four AMD presentation slides containing details of the chips, dated March 2010 and marked “Confidential — NDA Required,” referring to a non-disclosure agreement, were posted online by tech Web site VR-Zone, and later removed from the site without explanation.
he first three chips — the 1090T, 1055T and 1035T — will run at clock speeds of 3.2GHz, 2.8GHz and 2.6GHz, respectively, according to the slides. In Turbo mode, the chips run even faster than apple powerbook g4 17 inch battery at 3.6GHz, 3.3GHz and 3.1GHz. All of the chips have 9MB of cache and are manufactured using a 45-nanometer process. No information on pricing was given.
The fourth chip, due during the third quarter, is the 1075T, which runs at a clock speed of 3GHz — or 3.5GHz in Turbo mode — and also has 9MB of cache.
Three of the four Phenom II X6 chips — the 1090T, 1075T and 1055T — have a thermal design power (TDP) of 125 watts, suggesting they are designed for high-end PCs, including gaming machines of Dell vostro 1520 battery . The other chip, the 1035T, has a TDP of 95 watts, which matches AMD’s lineup of mainstream desktop chips.
Asked to confirm the specifications, AMD first said they were “not accurate,” but then appeared to back away from that statement when informed of the source of the information.”I think you are referring to leaked information for apple a1080 and a slide which was not published by AMD. Therefore, AMD can not confirm the accuracy of the details you have sent,” wrote Jason Coates, a spokesman for AMD Asia-Pacific, in an e-mail.
Regardless of the exact specifications, users will soon see PCs based on six-core chips like the Phenom II X6 or Intel’s upcoming six-core Gulftown processor on apple macbook pro 13 inch battery . Intel has not given a timeframe for when the Gulftown chips will be available.
